Dissertation은 논문이라고 하는데요. 논문을 작성하는 이유는 졸업을 위해서이겠죠. 논문을 작성하기 위해서는 다음 스텝(step)을 거쳐야 합니다. 첫번째, 주제를 선정해야겠죠. 그 다음은 연구 목적입니다. 이 논문 연구의 목적(objectives)은 무엇인가요? 그리고 연구 방법(methodology)을 정해야 합니다.
예를 하나 들어볼게요. 최근에 가장 핫 이슈로 불거지고 있는 미국의 통화 정책(US Monetary Policy)를 주제로 정했다고 해볼게요. 그럼 우리는 먼저 이 주제를 가지고
연구질문을 만들도록 해야합니다.
"US monetary policy is a key instrument used to maintain price stability, foster economic growth, and ensure full employment. The Federal Reserve, as the nation's central bank, is responsible for formulating and implementing monetary policy to achieve these objectives... “

주제를 이렇게 정하였다면 다음은 Literature review에 들어가야하는데요. 이 문헌고찰에서는 통화정책에 대한 역사를 조사해야 합니다. 통화정책의 효력에 관한 여러 이론들에 대해서 이야기 해야하겠죠. Keynesian, monetarist, new classical approach 같은 이론들을 말합니다. 이러한 이론들이 이때까지 있었던 경제 상황에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤고 결과를 가져왔는지에 대해서 이전 논문들을 분석해봐야 하겠죠.
연구질문은 다음과 같이 정해볼께요.
Research Question : 양적완화(QE)가 경제 성장과 인플레이션을 컨트롤 하는데 있어서 효과가 있었는가?
"This study aims to examine the effectiveness of unconventional monetary policy tools, specifically quantitative easing, in stimulating economic growth and controlling inflation in the United States."
다음은 Metholodgy에요. 저희의 경우는 이때까지 있었던 경제학 모델을 사용해서 quantitive approach(양적 연구)를 통해서진행 해볼텐데요. GDP와 인플레이션 같은 수치를 사용할거에요.
"To investigate the effectiveness of quantitative easing, this study will employ econometric techniques, including vector autoregression (VAR) models and Granger causality tests, to analyze the relationships between the Federal Reserve's balance sheet expansion, GDP growth, and inflation rates."
그 다음은 데이터 수집이네요. 양적완화 정책을 통해서 GDP가 어떻게 됬는지 추이를 살펴야하니까 GDP성장 그리고 인플레이션 수치등의 데이터를 수집해야겠죠.

그 다음에는 연구결과 findings에 대해서 이야기 해야 할 것 입니다.

VAR모델을 통해 분석한 연구 결과는 양적완화(QE)가 GDP성장에 긍정적으로 작용했다고 볼 수 있으며 다만 인플레이션 수치또한 올라가게 만드는 효과를 가져왔다. 이 연구결과는 통화정책이 경제성장을 이룩하는데 효과가 있고 침체 중에는 더욱 그러하다라는 것을 입증한다.
